Fish Lake and the trout population will be protected
Letters
Dear Editor,
Independent candidate Gary Young, speaking at a recent all-candidates meeting, has made incorrect statements with respect to the New Prosperity Gold-Copper Project.
Mr. Young is wrong to suggest the project will harm Fish Lake. The truth is that Fish Lake and its trout population will be protected during all phases of mine operations. There will be no harmful impact to Fish Lake.

The Williams Lake Fire Department carried out their annual controlled burn in Boitanio Park this evening.
The burn is to remove long grasses that represent a potential fire hazard and will also serve as a training session for firefighters. This burn will produce smoke, and residents in the area are asked to take any necessary action to prevent the smoke from entering residences.

Gentles back in court to face seven Criminal Code charges
News
Last week Martin Gentles was rearrested and charged with the same seven charges he was charged with shortly after the fatal pedestrian hit and run incident which occurred on Sunday, April 22, 2012 near the bottom of Carson Drive in Williams Lake.
While proceedings began almost immediately after the accident, some documents, including a pathology report, an analysis report and other documents from the hospital in Vancouver were delayed. "In July 2012, Crown Counsel made the decision to collapse the proceeding," said Sergeant Verbree Regional Commander Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services out of the Williams Lake RCMP detachment. He states that was a good tactical decision and may have prevented the case getting thrown out down the road, citing ‘Regina vs. Askov’. The Charter of Rights guarantees that "Any person charged with an offence has the right... to be tried within a reasonable time."

This year the maintenance will see new pro-lines and jumps that move towards gaps and more advanced bike park styles. The smaller lines will be maintained in certain sections of the park.
Depending on budgets and timing, a new flow trail and pump track is being considered.

SPIN Farming – local and healthy food production
Health and Fitness
There are hundreds of what could be called 'SPIN' farmers (SPIN stands for s-mall p-lot in-tensive) in North America, and all over the world. And the number is growing.
It is changing the face of farming not only for the land, but for the farmers themselves, as it presents a financially viable – even profitable – means of earning an income from food production. Additionally, if operated in urban settings, it beautifies vacant lots, underutilized or unmaintained lawns, and other downtown areas that benefit from increased colour and plant life – all while making local and healthy food production more visible to all demographics, and part of their daily lives. SPIN Farming is a win-win situation, so it makes sense that it is on the rise.
