Friday June 22

The Williams Lake Farmer’s Market is in Boitanio Park from 9:00am to 2:00pm on Fridays. They have many wonderful local products, including baked goods, canning, fresh local produce, crafts, lunch, and much more. Call Debbie before 8:00pm at 250-989-1522 for more information.

Berry season has arrived at the Cariboo Growers Market. They will receive fresh BC strawberries over the next few weeks, starting Tuesday, June 26. The market is taking pre-orders for fresh BC blueberries that will be sweet, plump and juicy by mid-July. New in the tore are tomatoes--very flavourful varieties--broccoli, cauliflower, whole chickens, and frozen raspberries.

The Library hosts Preschool Storytime from 10:30am to 11:15am today for ages 3-6.

The Royal Canadian Legion hosts their Friday Meat Draw from 5:00pm to 6:00pm this evening. They are located at 385 Barnard Street in Williams Lake.

Saturday June 23

Oliver Street Market welcomes visitors today from 9:00am to 3:00pm, with locally produced veggies, meats, plants, crafts and more. There is great food, fresh coffee, live music and unque shopping.

There will be a Craft and Flea Market in the 150 Mile Centre parking lot every Saturday and Sunday until September 30, 2012. The market will be open from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Table space costs $10.00 per day or $15.00 for the weekend. Call 250-296-4515 for more information.

A Walk for ALS (amytrophic lateral sclerosis) is being held today at Boitanio Park in Williams Lake. There are pledge forms available at Barton Insurance on 2nd Avenue, across from Shoppers Drug Mart. Registration is at 10:00am and the walk begins at 11:00am. Today and tomorrow, Eagleview Equestrian Centre hosts British Columbia Barrel Racers Association races. There will be four categories and plenty of money to be won. Races begin at 11:00am both days.

The Legion hosts their Saturday Meat Draw from 3:00pm to 5:00pm this afternoon.

The Stampede coronation takes place tonight in the Gibraltar Room at 7:00pm. Tickets are available at the Stampede Office or one of the 2012 Contestants for $15.00.

Sunday June 24

Sundays at the Legion, crib and shuffleboard will be available beginning at 1:00pm. Everyone is welcome.

The KidSport Classic Run will be held today in Boitanio Park beginning at 8:00am. Entry forms are available at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex, Caribou Ski Source for Sports, and www.activewilliamslake.com. There will be numerous prizes for participants and volunteers. See the website or the Active Living Guide for run and relay categories.

Monday June 25

StrongStart is held at Cataline, Mountview, and Marie Sharpe Elementary Schools each week from Monday to Friday. The program is available from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

This week at the Station House Gallery is the Cariboo Art Society's 68th Annual Show and Sale. The Gallery is open from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The Show and Sale will be held until June 30.

The Caribou Brain Injury Society has a Coping Strategies Group which meets every Monday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The group aims to help survivors of brain injury learn positive methods of coping with the effects of their injury. To register for this group, contact the Society at 250-392-7772 for an intake meeting, as this group is for victims of acquired brain injury.

There will be no Vegetarian Supper Club June, July, or August. Potluck meetings resume September 23.

Tuesday June 26

150 Mile House Elementary School has the StrongStart Program from 8:30am to 11:30am every Tuesday.

Free Storytime in Kiwanis Park will be available each Tuesday from 10:30am to 11:00am under the tree. This event is weather permitting and is for all ages.

Rhyme and Storytime is available for ages 0-5 and their parent or caregiver at Glendale Elementary School every Tuesday from 9:30am to 10:15am.

The Library offers Toddler Time from 10:30am to 11:00am every Tuesday for ages 0-3.

There is a women's bible study every Tuesday at 1:00pm at the Salvation Army (next door to the thrift store). All interested women are welcome to join.

Wednesday June 27

The Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex Fitness Centre offers Free Seniors Fitness Orientation for those adults 55 and older. Registered personal trainer Judy Orosz will provide an orientation to the facility and teach you about how to use the equipment safely, gym etiquette, and what times of the day would be best for you to work out. She will help you gain confidence in using the equipment and answer any questions you have regarding your own fitness. Please call 250-398-7665 in advance to book your complimentary session.

Chilcotin Road and Nesika Elementary Schools host Rhyme and Storytime each Wednesday for children ages 0-5 and their parent or caregiver. Chilcotin Road hosts the program from 9:30am to 10:15am and Nesika hosts from 11:00am to 11:45am.

The Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at C.J.’s Southwestern Grill at 12:05pm.

From 6:30pm to 7:30pm on Wednesdays at the Salvation Army, join Ellen Paynton for a Women’s Only Fitness Class. This is a free program for women and child minding is available. Call the Women’s Contact Society at 250-392-4118 for more information.

Thursday June 28

The TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) BC Group 4145 meets every Thursday across from Safeway. The meetings are from 8:45am to 10:00am. For more information or directions, call Ada at 250-398-5757 or Corinne at 250-392-4772.

Wildwood Elementary School hosts the StrongStart Program each Thursday from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

There is a Seniors Lunch at the Legion today beginning at 12:00pm. All seniors are welcome and lunch will be held upstairs.

Drop-In Traditional Rug Hooking Classes are available every Thursday. Join this free class to learn how to make your own rugs from new and recycled fabrics. Call Sharon at 250-296-4432 for more information.

Every Thursday, the Legion Branch 139 hosts Pasta Thursday, a Legion fundraiser. Dinner is from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and includes pasta and sauce, garlic bread, and caesar salad, all for just $6.00. The Legion would like to welcome the community to participate in this wonderful evening of good food and great company.
