This week, check out our many local artists and vendors at the Williams Lake Farmer’s Market and the 150 Mile House Craft and Flea Market, then head to the Station House Gallery for a beautiful interpretation of the Cariboo-Chilcotin:
Friday May 18
The Williams Lake Farmer’s Market is back in Boitanio Park from 9:00am to 2:00pm on Fridays. They have many wonderful local products, including baked goods, canning, fresh local produce, crafts, lunch, and much more. Call Debbie before 8:00pm at 250-989-1522 for more information.
The Library hosts Preschool Storytime from 10:30am to 11:15am today for ages 3-6.
The Royal Canadian Legion hosts their Friday Meat Draw from 5:00pm to 6:00pm this evening. They are located at 385 Barnard Street in Williams Lake.
Interior Health is hosting their annual Kindergarten Immunization Clinics on May 25 and May 28th. Saturday May 19
There is a Yard Sale at the Wildwood Fire Department today from 8:00am to 2:00pm as a fundraiser for the Fire Department. There will be refreshments, including hot dogs cooked by the Cattlemen's Restaurant. You can find household appliances, antique kitchen gadgets in their original packaging, games, books, tools, kids clothes, crafting supplies and more. There will be a Craft and Flea Market in the 150 Mile Centre parking lot every Saturday and Sunday until September 30, 2012. The market will be open from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Table space costs $10.00 per day or $15.00 for the weekend. Call 250-296-4515 for more information.
The Legion hosts their Saturday Meat Draw from 3:00pm to 5:00pm this afternoon.
Sunday May 20
Sundays at the Legion, crib and shuffleboard will be available beginning at 1:00pm. Everyone is welcome.
Monday May 21
This week at the Station House Gallery, artist Diana Jensen Vestergaard presents Painting the Cariboo in the Main Gallery. This exhibition features Classical Realist paintings commemorating the Cariboo. Starting at Mile Zero, the artist documents picturesque seasonal landscapes, iconic heritage buildings, rodeo culture, and regional flora and fauna. In the Upper Gallery is Aki Yamamoto's exhibit, Swamped. Swamped is a series of drawings, woodblock prints and carvings inspired by nearly fifteen years of living in a wetland in the middle of a “working forest”. Call 250-392-6184 for more information.
StrongStart is held at Cataline, Mountview, and Marie Sharpe Elementary Schools each week from Monday to Friday. The program is available from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Please note that this Monday is Victoria Day and school is not in session, so there will be no StrongStart today.
The Caribou Brain Injury Society has a Coping Strategies Group which meets every Monday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The group aims to help survivors of brain injury learn positive methods of coping with the effects of their injury. To register for this group, contact the Society at 250-392-7772 for an intake meeting, as this group is for victims of acquired brain injury.
Until May 25, bring your little one to Boitanio Mall for the 14th Annual Most Photogenic Baby Contest. The contest will be held by Lisa Peterson and 4 Kids Productions during mall hours. Categories are Newborn to 6 Months, 6 to 18 Months, 18 to 36 Months, and 3 to 5 Years. There will be trophies for first, second, and third place winners.
Tuesday May 22
150 Mile House Elementary School has the StrongStart Program from 8:30am to 11:30am every Tuesday.
Rhyme and Storytime is available for ages 0-5 and their parent or caregiver at Glendale Elementary School every Tuesday from 9:30am to 10:15am.
The Library offers Toddler Time from 10:30am to 11:00am every Tuesday for ages 0-3.
There is a women's bible study every Tuesday at 1:00pm at the Salvation Army (next door to the thrift store). All interested women are welcome to join.
Come to the library today at 4:00pm to learn how to make a Duct Tape Rose and Belt. This is a free event for ages 13 to 18. For more information, call Caroline Derksen at 250-392-3351, extension 220.
Wednesday May 23
The Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex Fitness Centre offers Free Seniors Fitness Orientation for those adults 55 and older. Registered personal trainer Judy Orosz will provide an orientation to the facility and teach you about how to use the equipment safely, gym etiquette, and what times of the day would be best for you to work out. She will help you gain confidence in using the equipment and answer any questions you have regarding your own fitness. Please call 250-398-7665 in advance to book your complimentary session.

Chilcotin Road and Nesika Elementary Schools host Rhyme and Storytime each Wednesday for children ages 0-5 and their parent or caregiver. Chilcotin Road hosts the program from 9:30am to 10:15am and Nesika hosts from 11:00am to 11:45am.
The Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at C.J.’s Southwestern Grill at 12:05pm.
From 6:30pm to 7:30pm on Wednesdays at the Salvation Army, join Ellen Paynton for a Women’s Only Fitness Class. This is a free program for women and child minding is available. Call the Women’s Contact Society at 250-392-4118 for more information.
The Hobbit House hosts a Meditation Workshop every Wednesday from May 23 to June 20. The workshop will be held at The Hobbit House from 7:00pm to 8:00pm and the cost is $50.00. Wildwood Elementary School hosts the StrongStart Program each Thursday from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

Every Thursday, the Legion Branch 139 hosts Pasta Thursday, a Legion fundraiser. Dinner is from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and includes pasta and sauce, garlic bread, and caesar salad, all for just $6.00. The Legion would like to welcome the community to participate in this wonderful evening of good food and great company.
