There’s plenty to do this week, including a Lioness Club sale, homeopathy discussion, a financial literacy class, and a bluegrass concert:
Friday March 30
There will be a fiddle concert and dance this evening with Gordon Stobbe and JJ Guy from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at The Longhouse. Admission is free for those who participated in their three-day workshop and for kids under 12 years old. Public admission is $10.00.
The Library hosts Preschool Storytime from 10:30am to 11:15am today for ages 3-6.
The Royal Canadian Legion hosts their Friday Meat Draw from 5:00pm to 6:00pm this evening. They are located at 385 Barnard Street in Williams Lake.
The Legion also has their popular Steak Night this evening, beginning at 6:00pm, with live music from Perfect Match.
Saturday March 3
Lacrosse Mania will be at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex today from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
Mona Niebergall of Stepping Stones Homeopathy welcomes you to join in on discussions regarding a new approach to sustainable health today at 1:00pm. The Legion hosts their Saturday Meat Draw from 3:00pm to 5:00pm this afternoon.
The Thompson Rivers University 2012 Gala, “TRU Magic,” will be held at Thompson Rivers University this evening beginning with cocktails at 6:00pm. Dinner will be at 7:00pm with a 9:00pm dance with March Hare to follow. They will also have live and silent auctions. Tickets are $80.00 and all the proceeds go toward supporting TRU scholarships and bursaries. Sunday April 1
The Williams Lake Lioness Club has their 7th Annual Spring Cleaning and Craft Sale today from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Seniors Activity Centre, located at 176 North 4th Avenue. Table rentals are $10.00. They will be serving lunch, with delicious soup, chili, homemade buns, cookies and beverages. The net proceeds of this event will go to the Hough Memorial Society. This morning at 11:00am, join others at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex to celebrate spring and healthy lifestyles. The Nutrition Walk and Run is 5km and is sponsored by Interior Health and Recreation Services. Call 250-398-7665 for more information.
Join the Boys and Girls Club of Williams Lake and District for Wii Olympics today at Thompson Rivers University. Participants age six and up will be grouped into teams representing different countries, with teams facing off in a series of six Olympic-style events using Wii game consoles. There will be a fun station for children under age six and there will be plenty of prizes up for grabs, with a grand prize draw for a Wii game console. Registration begins at 12:00pm and the fee is $10.00 per person or $25.00 for a family. The opening ceremony starts at 1:00pm and the event wraps up at 4:00pm with a closing ceremony. Sundays at the Legion, crib and shuffleboard will be available beginning at 1:00pm. Everyone is welcome.
There will be a Bluegrass Concert this evening at the Gibraltar Room at 7:00pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm. Advance tickets are $20.00, available at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex, and tickets at the door will be $25.00. Featured will be Bluegrass Etc., Southern California's premier bluegrass band. Also appearing are Garry Stevenson, Tim Eccles, Bob Underhill and Trent Freeman. Monday April 2
StrongStart is back at Cataline, Mountview, and Marie Sharpe Elementary Schools from Monday through Friday each week. The program is available from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
The Caribou Brain Injury Society has a Coping Strategies Group which meets every Monday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The group aims to help survivors of brain injury learn positive methods of coping with the effects of their injury. To register for this group, contact the Society at 250-392-7772 for an intake meeting, as this group is for victims of acquired brain injury.
Tuesday April 3
150 Mile House Elementary School has the StrongStart Program from 8:30am to 11:30am every Tuesday.
The Library offers Toddler Time from 10:30am to 11:00am every Tuesday for ages 0-3.
The Cariboo White Cane Chapter of the Canadian Council of the Blind meets today in the library's meeting room from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. All are welcome. The public is warmly invited to a free lively concert tonight and tomorrow night with 25 kids from Glendale Elementary School and a country/rock band. 'Glendale Junction and the Border Band' are perfoming both nights in the Glendale Theatre. Admission is free and there will be a concession.
The Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy and Cariboo Regional District Library are offering ‘Focus on Financial Literacy,’ a series of free workshops at the Williams Lake library from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. Wildwood Elementary School hosts the StrongStart Program each Thursday from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
Every Thursday, the Legion Branch 139 hosts Pasta Thursday, a Legion fundraiser. Dinner is from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and includes pasta and sauce, garlic bread, and caesar salad, all for just $6.00. The Legion would like to welcome the community to participate in this wonderful evening of good food and great company.
