Beat the chill this week with some fun family programs and volunteer opportunities:
Friday December 9
Cataline, Marie Sharpe, and Mountview Elementary Schools host the StrongStart Program from Monday to Friday when school is in session. The program is held from 9:00am to 12:00pm and is available for children 0-5 and their parent or caregiver. For more information, contact Joan Lozier at 250-398-3839.
The Library has Preschool Storytime each Friday from 10:30am to 11:15am for ages 3-6.
The Royal Canadian Legion has their Friday Meat Draw from 5:00pm to 6:00pm this evening. They are located at 385 Barnard Street.
The Maranatha Players present “Flapper: A Madcap Musical Comedy Tribute to the 1920’s.” Performances will be held at Maranatha Christian School on December 8-9 at 7:00pm and December 10 at 1:00pm and 8:00pm. Tickets are available at Wise Owl Toys, and are $10.00 for adults (13 and over) and $8.00 for children and seniors.
Saturday December 10
The Legion hosts their Saturday Meat Draw from 3:00pm to 5:00pm this afternoon.
Tuesday December 13
150 Mile House Elementary School has the StrongStart Program from 8:30am to 11:30am each Tuesday.
Parent-Child Mother Goose is available for ages 0-5 and their parent or caregiver every Tuesday at the Women’s Contact Society. Learn stories, songs, and rhymes from 10:00am to 11:00am.
Toddler Time is held at the Library from 10:00am to 11:00am for ages 0-3.
The Station House Gallery has After-School Art Classes every Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a flexible program with different opportunities to learn techniques, use varied media, and meet master artists. Contact the Station House at 250-392-6113 for more information or to register.
Wednesday December 14

The Rotary Club meets Wednesdays at C.J.’s Southwestern Grill at 12:05pm.
TubaJohn’s 6th Annual Christmas Concert With Friends will be held this evening at 7:30pm at St. Andrew’s United Church. Admission is by donation to the Salvation Army Food Bank. Thursday December 15
Wildwood Elementary School has the StrongStart Program every Thursday from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
The Legion has their Pasta Thursday Fundraiser every week. For only $6.00, enjoy pasta and sauce, garlic bread, and Caesar salad. Children under 6 eat free and are welcome when accompanied by an adult. All proceeds from this weekly fundraiser go right back in to the Legion’s community programs.
The Williams Lake Over 40’s Activity Group meets every Thursday at 7:00pm. This is an open group for couples and singles over 40 years old to meet others with similar and varied interests.
The Williams Lake Dry Grad Committee needs volunteers to help make decorations for Dry Grad 2012. They meet every Thursday at 6:30pm at the former location of Gladie’s Fashions (next to the Bank of Montreal).
