Prince George boy runs into moving van, not seriously injured
| News |
Prince George RCMP were called to a pedestrian accident early Friday morning on Handlen Road by Kelly Road Secondary School.
A 10 yearr old boy was heading to school when he ran into the side of a passing minivan which was driving at a low speed. The young boy was new to Prince George, was confused and a little lost as his new school, Heather Park Elementary, was up a block just around the corner from the Secondary School. When he realised his mistake, he changed direction and hit the van in his haste.
The boy suffered minor injuries (a bloody nose and fat lip) from the collision but was transported to the University Hospital of Northen British Columbia via ambulance for medical attention. He was later released to his parents.
RCMP are reminding motorists who are dropping their kids off and driving through school zones to be cautious and aware of all pedestrians around them. The driver of the van was obeying the speed limit in the school zone and in doing so prevented this incident from having a tragic outcome.
