madd_logoNo one ever thinks a crash will happen to them, yet an average of 4 Canadians are killed and 200 are injured in impaired driving crashes every day. MADD Canada is asking everyone to put safety first as they celebrate this Labour Day weekend.

“If you’re going to be drinking, leave the driving to someone sober,” said MADD Canada National President Margaret Miller. “It could be the difference between ending your summer on a happy note, or ending it with an impaired driving charge, or worse, a crash that kills or injures someone.”

Summer and long weekends are peak times for alcohol-related crashes, deaths and injuries. Whether you’re taking one last summer road trip, taking the boat out on the lake or trekking through trails on the ATV, always drive sober.

“We hope everyone enjoys this last long weekend of summer,” Mrs. Miller said, “but we hope they do so without putting their own lives or the lives of others at risk.”

MADD Canada and its volunteers across the country work with community partners and generous corporate sponsors such as Allstate Insurance Company of Canada to remind Canadians: don’t drive impaired; don’t ride with drivers who are impaired; and if you see a driver you suspect is impaired, call 911 to report it to police.

allstate_logo“In the insurance industry we see the impact and outcomes of impaired driving crashes all too often,” said Chris Kiah, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allstate Canada. “We are proud to work with MADD Canada to engage and encourage Canadians to make our communities safe from impaired driving.”

Allstate has been a supporter of MADD Canada for more than 21 years, sponsoring a wide range of programs and services including MADD Canada’s School Multi-Media Assembly Program, Campaign 911 and Project Red Ribbon.

About MADD Canada MADD Canada (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is a national, charitable organization that is committed to stopping impaired driving and supporting the victims of this violent crime. With volunteer-driven groups in more than 100 communities across Canada, MADD Canada aims to offer support services to victims, heighten awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and save lives and prevent injuries on our roads.
