Individuals interested in tracking the progress of the cancer centre building can access a live view of the construction site. The webcam will operational for the duration of the centre's construction.

The 5,000-square metre BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North will provide full cancer care services, including a computerized-tomography (CT) simulator, a chemotherapy unit, and outpatient clinics. It also will have two linear accelerators, which will bring the delivery of radiation therapy to Northern B.C.

The new cancer centre is a key component of the Northern Cancer Control Strategy, a partnership of the Province, BC Cancer Agency, Provincial Health Services Authority and Northern Health. The strategy includes a range of cancer screening, treatment, and support services delivered as close to home as possible.

The Centre for the North project is being delivered as a public private partnership. The BC Cancer Agency has contracted with Plenary Health to design, build, finance and maintain the new centre for 30 years, ensuring it is built on time and on budget. Construction of the Centre for the North began at the end of July and is expected to be complete by September 2012.
