RCMPshield_crest2On July 30, 100 Mile House RCMP received a complaint of a missing plane and pilot.

The pilot, a local resident of Lac La Hache had taken off on the morning of July 29 and was en route to Whitehorse, Yukon to pick up his son on the evening of July 29. When the pilot had not arrived, the son had reported the incident to Whitehorse RCMP who contacted 100 Mile House RCMP. 100 Mile House RCMP confirmed that the pilot had departed the area on the morning of July 29 and there was not flight plan filed by the pilot.

Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) was deployed and the investigation revealed that the pilot had last fuelled at Takla Narrows on the afternoon of July 29. The JRCC then conducted searches from this location on and located the plane on a small lake near Dease Lake. The pilot had landed the plane and was having mechanical issues, so could not depart the location. JRCC had deployed food and an repair crew to assist the pilot, who had been stranded in the area for approximately 24 hours.

The pilot was not injured and did not require medical attention following the incident and the family was notified accordingly.
