100 Mile House RCMP highlights to March 29, 2010

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 72 complaints and calls for service over the last week.
On March 23, 100 Mile House RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver near the 108 Mile Ranch. The vehicle was located on Highway 97 and 104 Mile. An approved screening device was administered roadside and the driver was returned to the 100 Mile House detachment. Two breath samples were obtained, however, they were determined to be under the legal limit. The driver was administered a 24 hour driving prohibition and released. The vehicle was towed.
On March 24, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision in the 6000 block of Horse Lake Road. The driver of a blue Dodge pick-up had lost control of the vehicle, gone off the road to the right and rolled. Emergency vehicles responded. The driver was taken to the 100 Mile House Hospital with non life threatening injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor and the investigation is continuing.
On March 25, 100 Mile House RCMP executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. 670 marijuana plants in various stages of development and production equipment were seized from the residence on High Country Road. A hydro by-pass was discovered. Charges of Production of Marijuana and Theft of Hydro are being recommended to Federal Crown against two males from the Lower Mainland who were arrested at the residence. The estimated potential street value of the seized marijuana is approximately $402,000. The investigation into this matter is continuing.
On March 26, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a complaint of an impaired driver leaving a business in 100 Mile House. The vehicle was located on Highway 97, the driver was determined to be impaired by alcohol. The driver was returned to the 100 Mile House RCMP detachment where two breath samples obtained revealed alcohol levels to be 150 mg% and 140 mg%. The vehicle was towed. Charges of Impaired Driving and Driving Over the Legal Limit are being recommended to Crown against a 41 year old resident of the Lower Mainland.
On March 26, 100 Mile House RCMP and 100 Mile House Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire behind the arena on Airport Road during a youth event. Witnesses observed two fires in two separate structures. Two youths were detained in the vicinity of the fire by event staff. The two youth were subsequently arrested by investigators. Charges of Arson are being recommended to Crown against two 14 year old youth, both from 100 Mile House. The amount of damage to the structures is not known at this time. The investigation into this matter is continuing.
On March 27, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to an alarm at Horse Lake Elementary School. Windows on the front door and the Principal's Office had been smashed by a rock. No entry to the building appeared to have been gained. Discarded liquor cans were located at the scene. Investigation into this matter is continuing.
