News

Warm temperatures and moderate winds are forecast for the next several days in the Bella Coola area making fire activity more aggressive. There are currently 4 fires listed as interface within the Bella Coola region.

Fire crews worked on the ground and from the air today on the Stuie complex of fires in Tweedsmuir Provincial Park. These mountainside fires continue to present challenges for the Fire Service as access is extremely difficult. The fires have the potential to affect traffic on Highway 20 but haven’t done so to this date.

The Highway 20 stretch known as ‘The Hill’ is closed overnight and open between the hours of 8am and 6pm daily subject to fire conditions. This is a result of the Heckman Fire near the eastern boundary of Tweedsmuir Park.
