Harper to meet Obama, Calderon in August
| News |
Prime Minister Stephen Harper is in Guadalajara, Mexico today with US President Barack Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon for a two-day 'Three Amigos' summit. The meeting is the first for the three leaders since President Obama took office, and protesters were kept at arms length by roadblocks around the city manned by riot police.
Yesterday nearly 400 people marched outside the North American Leaders Summit. The leaders look ahead to the handling of swine flu pandemic this fall, and other topics may include drugs, trade, and Mexican visitors being required to carry visas when entering Canada. Ottawa announced last month that travellers from Mexico and the Czech Republic will need visas to enter Canada because of skyrocketing numbers of refugee claimants from the two countries.
