Police investigate suspicious occurrence involving a child

Earlier this week, an 11 year old girl was approached by an adult male who was unknown to her. The male, who was driving a full sized black van, pulled along side the girl and offered her a ride to school. Inspector Warren Brown of the Williams Lake RCMP advised this happened near Marie Sharpe Elementary School.
The young girl responded appropriate by saying 'no' and then quickly walked away towards her school. The young female was unharmed in this incident.
This incident was reported to the RCMP on Spetember 13, 2012.

The van is described as full size black older model van, with all windows tinted and a broken tail light.
Police are reminding students to be vigilant and walk in pairs if possible. If a related incident occurs, the police encourage that person to immediately tell an adult (parent/ teacher) or someone else that they trust immediately.
The Williams Lake RCMP are investigating this suspicious occurrence. Anyone with any information please call the Williams Lake RCMP.
