080712_plexWilliams Lake City Council has resolved to impose remedial action requirements on Luis Justino Goncalves, as the registered owner of the fourplex at 3010 Mackenzie Avenue on the basis that it creates unsafe conditions.

The owner is required to use fencing, boarding, barriers and/or signage to prevent entry of unauthorized persons into the building, no later than fourteen days after being notified.

The City is being asked to shorten the time limit, and if the owner does not comply, the City can enter the premises and carry out the requirements at the owner's expense and without further notice.

"This is something new for us--we've changed the language so that when we have property owners who don't live here," Geoff Goodall stated. "Even when we send registered mail, it may still be three weeks before we hear back."
