RCMP respond to 95 calls on long weekend

Williams Lake Detachment members were busy over the long weekend responding to 95 calls for service and/or investigations. Most involved cases of disturbances of the peace, approximately six reports of common assault and property-related offences.
On Saturday, August 4 at 10:30am it was reported that two vehicles parked in the Oliver St. Bar and Grill parking lot overnight were broken into. A small rock was used to smash both driver windows out. A Makita rechargeable drill, brown leather jacket, and approx $10.00 in change was taken from one pick up truck registered in Ontario. The other pick up truck had nothing taken—just the driver window smashed. There are no suspects or witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Williams Lake RCMP.
On Saturday, August 4 at approximately 1:30pm members of Williams Lake RCMP responded to a residence in Likely, BC in relation to a report of a sexual assault on an 11-year-old child. An adult male was taken into custody and later released on conditions. The matter continues to be investigated by police.
On Sunday, August 5 at 3:00pm police responded to a report of mischief to a vehicle in the back parking lot of Lo's Florist (124 2nd Ave North, Williams Lake). The vehicle was a grey 2010 Dodge Caravan. The rear window of the vehicle had been smashed by a piece of cement, and there was glass all over the road. The doors were locked, entry was not gained to the vehicle and nothing was stolen. The incident occurred sometime between 4:00pm on August 4 and 3:00pm on August 5. There are no suspects or witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Williams Lake RCMP.
On Monday, August 6 at approximately 12:15 Williams Lake RCMP received a complaint of a break-and-enter from a residence on Dodwell St. Sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning suspect(s) accessed the residence through and unlocked door and stole a laptop, X box, ipod and some shirts. The matter is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Williams Lake RCMP.
