Dangerous driver arrested in Williams Lake
| News |
Shortly before 8:00pm on Saturday, Quesnel RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver operating a black pickup truck leaving Billy Barker Days Festivities in the area of LeBourdais Park.
Quesnel RCMP located the Chevrolet pickup moments later in the area of Shepherd Avenue and Reid Street and activated emergency lights and sirens in order to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle initially stopped but quickly thereafter fled traveling southbound on Front Street, driving erratically and narrowly missing a white car. The truck then travelled south on Highway 97 at excessive speeds and attempts to stop the vehicle by Quesnel RCMP were unsuccessful.
Some time after having collided with a marked police cruiser, the black truck was abandoned and the occupants fled on foot. A 34 year old Williams Lake male was apprehended by Williams Lake RCMP and Police Dog Services. He was arrested for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Fleeing the Scene of an Accident and Flight from Police.
Quesnel RCMP are asking the driver of the white car which was almost hit and anyone who may have witnessed the suspect truck fleeing the traffic stop and driving erratically through Quesnel's downtown core to call 250-992-9211.
