New housing taking shape

The 33-unit affordable rental facility on 3rd Avenue is taking shape and will be available for tenants in July 2010 through the Cariboo Friendship Society. An existing building was demolished and the new building is underway.
Rosanna McGregor, Assistant Director at Cariboo Friendship Society, said that it’s been a long process to get the new facility in place. “20% will be ‘affordable’, where 30% of your income goes to housing. The rest will be straight market rent,” she explained.
“It’s important for us to be a good neighbor. These will be good tenants with an on-site manager 24/7 to keep things running smoothly. It will be a well-run establishment, just like the other facilities we run.
