Busy Monday night for the Williams Lake RCMP
| News |
About 9:30pm on Monday, October 26, the Williams Lake RCMP received a report that approximately 10 males armed with knives and machetes were fighting with some people in the area of 1400 Coleman Road. Upon arrival, police spoke to a very intoxicated resident in the immediate area who advised that these males had kicked open the door to his residence and then got into an altercation with him and his friends. The suspects fled prior to police arrival. There were no injuries during this confrontation. The police dog tracked these suspects to an area near City Hall where they were located and arrested for break and enter and related weapons offences. All four suspects are known to the police for this type of criminal behaviour. The police believe this was not a random attack and all combatants were known to each other.
While this event was unfolding, the police received a call that there was a suspicious male peering into a residence in the 1300 block of Dog Creek Road. When the resident looked at this male through her window from inside, the male stepped back into the shadows. A short while later, in the same vicinity, the police responded to another call from a resident who advised that there was a male trying to break into her residence. The police responded and located an adult male hiding in the garage, which he had broken into. This male, also known to the police for this type of activity, was arrested for break and enter.
These two incidents are believed to be related and the investigation is continuing.
