Alexis Creek RCMP investigate possible discovery of human remains
| News |
On September 2nd, Alexis Creek RCMP were informed by a member of the public of a possible discovery of human remains in what is known as the Anaham Meadow, situated approximately 5 kilometres northeast of Alexis Creek, B.C. Haying was being conducted by a local resident in the area when he made the discovery.
Members of the Alexis Creek RCMP were led to the findings, which at this time appear to be and are being treated as human. At this time there is no evidence of foul play.
Police have secured the scene and are awaiting the arrival of a Forensic Anthropologist. An extensive search of the area involving RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Services, and Air Services is planned for Saturday September 4th. Assistance is also being sought from the local Search and Rescue team.
The investigation is also considering that there is an ongoing missing person case from the area. On May 5th, 2010 Dickson James Alphonse was reported missing to Alexis Creek RCMP. He was last seen leaving the Anaham Reserve on an ATV on May 4th, 2010 at approximately 10:00 pm. The ATV he was riding was later located near the Anaham Meadow. An extensive search for Mr. Alphonse was conducted, however he was never located.
Police will be looking at the Alphonse case and the possibility that the remains located are those of Dickson Alphonse. Police are in possession of dental records and a comparison, if possible, will be made in the near future.
