Develpoment of community garden at Cariboo Lodge begins in 5 days
| News |

The City of Williams Lake will be developing a new community garden at Cariboo Lodge on Wednesday September 2, 2009. On August 11, Council approved the site and directed staff to work to develop the site and an agreement with the Food Policy Council to manage the garden.
“Community gardens provide individuals with access to fresh health food and encourage active living”, says Mayor Kerry Cook. “They also provide an opportunity to people to come together to learn new skills, and we are very pleased to be able to support this new initiative”. The new garden site will provide more than 20 new plots for the community, including two wheelchair accessible plots.
The garden is being built in partnership with Terasen Gas, who are providing the labour to assist with site preparation and building. The garden plots will be available for planting in the spring, and the Food Policy Council will be managing the site.
