House fire on 168 Mile Road
| News |
The Williams Lake Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 1440 168 Mile Road just before 6:00pm this evening.
The fire is believed to have started on the back deck when some juniper bushes along the deck behind the BBQ ignited, which quickly spread to a nearby pine tree.
Williams Lake Fire Department responded with multiple pieces of equipment, including two engines and a tanker truck. Wildwood Fire Department was also called in to assist with two tankers.
BC Ambulance was on scene, although there were no reported injuries, they stayed on scene to assist the fire fighters if needed.
An electrical short on a nearby power pole caused a small electrical burst and the sparks caused a small grass fire on the hill below the residence.
The resident was able to move his pickup and boat out of harms way so firefighters could have clear access to the residence. The family has owned this property since the early 70's and built the current house.
