Solid Waste Management Plan Review 2010

Are you passionate about recycling? Are you interested in where your garbage goes? If so, then you may want to consider volunteering as a member of the Cariboo Regional District’s (CRD) new Solid Waste Advisory Committee. 

The CRD is updating its Solid Waste Management Plan for the entire region. This plan provides direction for the types of garbage, recycling and other waste reduction programs we plan to develop over the next ten years. The goal is to create a plan with input from residents and businesses that will meet the needs for managing waste – for the good of our communities, our environment and our pocket books. 

“Garbage is a community issue, so we are looking for people from across the region who are interested in participating on our Advisory Committee” says CRD Chair, Al Richmond “We are looking for people who represent a broad range of interests, including individuals, neighbourhood associations and businesses who can help us create a workable plan that meets our solid waste needs for the years to come.” 

Committee members will meet four to six times over the year, and will be required to do a little homework such as giving consideration to the ideas proposed, offering new ideas, providing suggestions on how best to share information with the public, and giving updates and getting feedback from any group or association represented. The Advisory Committee will help develop the Solid Waste Management Plan in consultation with the public to ensure that it represents the needs and the interests of our communities and our environment.
