Between 2-4 million dollar grow op bust in Horsefly
| News |
Yesterday, a team of police officers including the Williams Lake RCMP Drug Section, the North District General Investigation Section and Williams Lake general duty members attended a remote residence in the Horsefly area with a search warrant, as this was a suspected marijuana grow site.
Upon attendance, three adult Asian males, all from the Vancouver area, attempted to flee from a large outbuilding that contained 4,000 healthy marijuana plants. All three men were arrested without incident and will be released with pending charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The equipment related to this grow is worth an estimated $200,000 on top of the two to four million dollars of marijuana seized.
Although this is a very significant grow, it is not uncommon to see a factory-style grow operation with this many plants and equipment. Police detachments including Williams Lake, Quesnel, 100 Mile House and Alexis Creek are aware of this trend and will be making concentrated efforts to discourage this illegal activity in the Cariboo.
The RCMP rely on people in the community, who can remain anonymous, to come forward and report illegal activities. Anyone who may have information regarding illegal activities is encouraged to call the Williams Lake detachment at (250) 392-6211 or CrimeStoppers at (800) 222-8577.
