PeeWee Minor Hockey evaluations underway in Williams Lake
| Sports |
The second half of the PeeWee Minor Hockey evaluations for kids with last names beginning with letters M through V, was held in Rink One at Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex last evening.
Approximately 50 players hit the ice, performing various timed skill drills, which will determine where they are placed in the roster. Each team is balanced as the organizers can get them. Every child that tries out, is placed on a team.

“We currently have 92 PeeWee’s registered, which will create five house teams,” said Alison Bellmond, the PeeWee House Co-odinator . “There will be five house teams; of those, four will be mixed co-ed teams, one will be an all-female team and one a PeeWee Rep Tier 2 team.” A PeeWee Tier 2 team is made up of the top players from evaluations and has a maximum of 17 players, including two goaltenders. The try-outs for the Rep team will hit the ice during this coming weekend. Rep hockey is a major commitment and requires more time than recreational hockey.
The PeeWee Division practises will begin in the end of September, games will start in the first week of October, and season lasts until March.
