Local water-skiers take first place at Canadian ChampionshipsBy Jason Ryll

The Lakecity continues to produce high-level athletes who are moving on to represent the city at the National and International levels.  Local water-skiing athletes, and father and son, Parnell and Conley Pinette were in the spotlight during the Canadian Water-skiing Championships recently in Abbottsford.

Conley, who’s only 10 years old, competed against 5 other boys in the slalom, trick, and jump categories and took top spot in every one.  Dad Parnell, 38, who’s also a repeat former National champion, also competed in the different categories coming in 6th in slalom and 1st in both trick and jump against 10 others.

The junior Pinette was also impressive enough to catch the eye of international scouts who picked him to join the Canadian National U12 team and is set to compete in St. Louis Missouri coming up on September 11th and 12th.
