Annual Slo Pitch a home-run success

15 teams played in the 15th Annual Slo Pitch Tournament in Williams Lake this past weekend. Local and visiting teams battled it out on the field for the tournament, which was run by the Rowdies, and which raised $1,250 for the Williams Lake Slo-Pitch League’s new dugouts.

The Ratz team from Williams Lake came in first, winning an $800 prize and team vests, Rednex took second, with a prize of $600 and team long-sleeve shirts. The Lakers from Williams Lake came in third with a $400 prize and dry-fit shirts for the team and Bloodbath and Beyond from 100 Mile House took fourth place, winning $300 and team hats.
The team that travelled farthest to compete in the tournament was the Whistler Rednex. Male and Female Most Valuable Players were chosen from each team, and the Williams Lake Slo-Pitch League said a big thank you to their sponsors: Overlander Pub, Info Book, Caribou Ski, and Cariboo Custom Monogram.
"The weather was great and everyone had a lot of fun," said league president, Linda Barbondy.
