Ted Hlokoff put the Chilcotin on the map with his Viper recently at the Silver State Classic Challenge ‘Open Road Rally’ near Las Vegas, where ‘you can do as fast as you want on a public highway.’

Ted and his co-driver Tim Anglin took ‘3rd fastest car’ in the half-mile event in a 1200 supercharged Dodge Viper, clocking a speed of 151mph. “It was a spectacular event, despite the fact that my engine was down about 100hp because of the 6,200 altitude in Ely, Nevada,” he said.

He said that there were competitors from England, Sweden, Denmark and Japan as well as Canada.  “Tim and I bought home third place in the 105mph beginner class,” he said. “In the half-mile event where we came in third, a Porsche came in second at 155mph and a 1000hp Twin Turbo Viper took first at a speed of 162mph.”
