Saturday evening was the Thunder Mountain Speedway 2010 All Mini Invitational. The Pacific Northwest Dwarf Car Challenge was also in town for their final race of the season. According to Al Goldie, "The battle for the championship is very close at this point, the top 4 cars are less than 100 points apart and it could be anyone's trophy by the end of the day".
The PNDCC brought 17 cars up, but Ken de Rooy had some misfortune with his motor during hot laps and was unable to race. There were 9 cars in the Bone Stock Mini class and 5 cars in the Heartland Pro Mini class.
The Cars that traveled the farthest to be here for the weekend came from Courtenay on the Vancouver Island in the Dwarf series, the Bone Stock Mini came from Quesnel and the Pro Mini came from Agassiz.
James Dor'e, the #15 car from Qualicum Beach had the fast time-in for the day with a 16.531 lap. The #20 of local racer Brian Giesbrecht turned in a 19.906 in the Bone Stock Mini class and Nicholas Hastie from Agassiz set the New Track Record in the Heartland Pro Mini class with a 17.391 lap time.
The Main Event in the Bone Stock Mini class was won by #00 Sean Bruce, The Pro Mini class was won by#7 Tyler Thomas (after Nick Hastie blew a motor while in the lead near the halfway mark) and the Dwarf Car Main winner was #33 Brian Lee from Campbell River. The winners of both the Bone Stock Minis and the Pro Minis each won $1000 and the rest of the field in each class split $1500.
As always, there was much socializing and bench racing in the pits after the races with so many racers camping at the track overnight.
