Trevor Seibert finished fourth in Edmonton, Alberta’s, Canadian Tire 100 NASCAR race Sunday. The Williams Lake, British Columbia, racer continues to improve in his Lake Excavating/EMCO Waterworks-sponsored Dodge.

Seibert started fourth in a talented field of NASCAR Canadian Tire Series racers. He fought a spirited battle throughout the race vying for a podium spot.

“The car was great to drive,” said Seibert. “We keep getting better with every race, and I know we’re close to contending for a win.”

After battling his way to third position by passing a fierce Kerry Micks, Seibert appeared to be cruising to the podium. Former series champion Scott Steckly spoiled those hopes making a bold pass into turn one on the final lap.

“Scott made a great move on the last lap,” said Seibert. “I could have gotten physical with him, but he raced me clean, and I returned the same respect.”

Seibert’s results have improved with every race this season. After failing to finish in the top 10 at Mosport International Raceway Seibert scored a sixth place finish on the Exhibition Place course in Toronto.

The top five result in Edmonton brings great excitement to Avion Motorsports with plans to race four more events this season. The next two races come on oval tracks near Vernon, British Columbia, and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, respectively, and the last two have Seibert returning to road courses where he excels.

Seibert will compete as a podium favourite at the technical course in Trois Rivieres, Quebec, and the famed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, next month.

“I enjoy racing on the ovals,” said Seibert. “Our oval track program is making progress, but our best chance for a win is the road courses.”

Seibert has added reason to look forward to this weekend’s Motoplex Speedway event near Vernon. Along with his entry in the A&W Cruisin’ the Dub 300 Seibert will watch his son Ryley Seibert compete in the street stock event.

“Ryley hasn’t raced the street stock much this year,” said Trevor. “He’s been focusing on his late model in the ARCA Sportsman division, and he’s doing great.

“I’m pretty confident he’ll do well in his race. Then the pressure will be on for me to perform.”
