Seibert confident for this weekend’s Edmonton race with new sponsor EMCO
Trevor Seibert scored an impressive sixth place finish in NASCAR’s debut on Toronto’s famed street circuit Saturday. The Williams Lake, BC, veteran survived a green-white-checker finish in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series’ Jumpstart 100.
The series travels west to compete on Edmonton’s City Centre Airport course in the Canadian Tire 100 this Sunday, July 25th. Seibert welcomes EMCO Waterworks as an associate sponsor joining primary sponsor Lake Excavating on his Dodge.
“It’s great to venture closer to home with momentum this weekend,” said Seibert after the Toronto race. “We’re poised for a podium finish soon. The car is working great, and the Dodge horsepower is a big improvement from last year.”
Seibert qualified eighth in a talented field of 31 drivers, and he kept his Lake Excavating Dodge in the top 10 the entire race. A yellow flag on lap 31 set up an exciting green-white-checker finish NASCAR, and Seibert felt confident.
“My car got better every lap,” said Seibert. “Some of the front-runners couldn’t keep up the pace they set early, but my car was great.”
Chaos ensued on the restart with two drivers in the top five over-shooting their braking zones in separate corners. Seibert wove through the carnage, and he was pleased with the top-10 result.
“We were in a great position to capitalize on last lap mistakes,” said Seibert. “Dave Bruin and Bill Burns gave me a great car, and we’ll head to Edmonton with a great deal of confidence.”
