Mayor hopes timber supply presentation will reduce economic angst
| Local Politics |
Council is being asked tonight to authorize Mayor Cook to make a presentation to the BC Special Committee on Timber Supply on Thursday this week.

The presentation by Mayor Cook will include a recomendation that the province stongly consider the impact of timber supply discussions on communities, workers and businesses. To help avoid economic angst, unnecessary worry and uncertainty in local communities, it will be noted that municipal government should be directly incolved in the release of information from the government to the general public.
A larger suggestion to the province will be to create a mitigation strategy and plan that addesses forecasted mid-term timber supply shortages in the Williams Lake Timber Supply Area.
"This is important for the City in emphasizing the importance of the forest industry in our area," Mayor Cook said, adding that recognizing how important the forest industry in looking to our future, is critical in the presentation.
