Letters - Letter to the Editor

letter_editorEditor:

It is municipal election time again. As part of a community participation strategy the City’s Social Planning department has undertaken a voter recruitment initiative.

History has shown that less than half of eligible voters participate in the process of electing the leaders of our community.  This shows that we need to do a better job of engaging the community in the issues that directly affect them.

Municipal politics directly affects you and your municipal vote matters. You have the opportunity to vote on issues like garbage and recycling collection, bus fares, pool and fitness services and rates, accessibility, fire protection and emergency planning, snow removal and street maintenance, and parks and trails.

There is advanced voting on November 9 and 16 in the City Hall foyer for everyone from 8:00am to 8:00pm, and mail-in ballots are available on the City website at www.williamslake.ca

General voting day is on November 19 at Marie Sharpe Elementary School from 8:00 to 8:00pm.

Encourage your friends and coworkers to talk about their issues, get informed and then VOTE on November 19. Thank you for taking the time to make a choice.

Sincerely,

Christa Cook
