Letters - Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

Congratulations LeRae for launching this web forum.

The fir trees in my neighbourhood (Russet Bluff) have been hit hard by the spruce budworm this summer.

I spoke with a Ministry of Forests staff member and she told me that the provincial government has very little funding for forest health management. She added that this could result in a substantial fall-down of the mid-term timber supply. Not what our economy needs.

I asked what we can do about it and the worker said people need to speak out about it. Contact MLAs and the Forest Minister and voice your concerns.

Donna Barnett Cariboo Chilcotin
Bob Simpson Cariboo North and Forestry Critic
Pat Bell Forest Minister

The Ministry of Forest people know all about the forest health problem in the Cariboo Chilcotin. The politicians need public pressure to act.
