Calling all you young people

Editor:
On April 10th it was my pleasure to visit “Seedy Saturday” in Williams Lake at the new venue for the local Food Co-op downtown. According to the Tatjana Bates, community dietician, the Williams Lake area used to be 80% self-sufficient in supplying its food requirements and local farmers and ranchers are bringing their produce in again now to offer it to local people. Home-grown beef? Lamb? Vegetables?
Delicious! Not to mention healthy...
I know that fruit trees grow in Quesnel and Vanderhoof is terrific beef-raising country so I think this Eat Local initiative that has been gaining popularity the last few years is a viable one for the entire Cariboo-Chilcotin.
People are getting involved in how their food is produced and of course, we Greens are at the forefront of all the converstions taking place. The next generation is going to be critically important to how our society proceeds. That’s YOU in high school and college/university, I’m talking to... politics and democracy are all about communication and debate, about information and emotion. Those of you with design and artistic talent are invited to lend your voice to the green message. You can contribute to the Young Greens, or your local riding association (that’s US) by creating posters, drawings, website content, photograpy, flyers, videos, animations, infographics, paintings, etc.The Greens are all about doing politics differently--this means that getting involved should be about empowerment, creativity and cooperation.
You are invited to send us ideas or project proposals for videos, campaigns, visual statements, public interventions, events etc. The Green Party can publish it on the Green website, help you promote it, and maybe even help you realize it. Write to the Greens at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or write me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
