Letters - Letters - General

letter_editorThe HST will take effect July 1 if it passes legislation in Victoria, and the premier plans to force it through regardless of public disapproval.

This shows Campbell’s ignorance to the people of BC, however the citizens of the Cariboo and Chilcotin don’t have to go far to see the ignorance of the Liberal government.

MLA Donna Barnett has never really listened to concerns since she started last year, and has been out of touch with families in her riding. Recently in the media Barnett is suggesting that people in her constituancy were uniformed of the HST, and some support the tax. She claims forestry, mining, and restaurant industries will benefit from the HST suggesting the tax may lower the cost of dining out, and then contradicts herself claiming we will be paying more for a cup of coffee. Ms Barnett seems more concerned for the interests of industry then of Cariboo and Chilcotin families. Donna Barnet must come clean on the HST, and its effects on her riding.

The HST will us cost more and won’t create jobs in BC. If business does save money, then the only jobs that will be seen here will be the ones the mines and mills will retain because they can possibly afford to pay workers salaries. Ms Barnet has nothing to lose if she votes no in passing the Harmonized Sales Tax, but she has a lot to lose if she votes yes with Premier Campbell. The voters will remember come May 2013.
