A team of Williams Lake firefighters has returned from Whistler, where they successfully completed ‘Tough Mudder’, a series of more than 20 challenges and 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces.

The local fire fighter team trained since February to get ready for the challenge last weekend. “Our entire team completed the course with no injuries,” said Trevor Schick. “It was a fantastic day of team building and camaraderie that was enjoyed by all who took part.”

“The worst obstacle by far was a swim in an ice-covered glacial lake at the top of the mountain followed by a half mile jog through the snow,” Trevor continued.

He said that, not only are all team members planning to do the ‘Mudder’ again in Las Vegas in April of 2013, new people have already joined their team. “They’re excited to experience the most mentally and physically challenging thing I think anyone can attempt,” he said.

“There were many highlights, but certainly the best part was crossing the finish line with all of our team intact, and receiving our Tough Mudder headband, t- shirt and, of course, the glass of  beer.”
