The Caribou usually live in the protected high meadows, but often spend their days on the lake in February.
"The Chilanko Forks Post Office has a photo from a couple of years ago that has more than 100 Caribou grazing on the lake. They are breath-taking to see," said Janice Coates, proprietor of the Woodland Caribou Resort. "We told our grand-children this is where Santa's Reindeer come to vacation after the stress of Christmas night." This photo was taken by 'Milt'.
