A chance for 100 Mile House to show Olympic spirit and winCommunities across BC are sharing their stories and showing the world their Olympic and Paralympic Games spirit through sport, healthy living, and environmental sustainability. 124 communities are officially in the running for the title of GamesTown 2010.

Three B.C. communities will be picked as the Gold, Silver and Bronze GamesTowns and will receive funds to put towards sports or healthy living facility improvements of their choosing.  When the public voting closes, a Celebrity Judges Panel will begin finalizing their decisions. Starting January 5th, the panel of judges will be selecting the winners of GamesTown 2010 from the top 10 Viewers’ Choice selections. Prizes will be awarded for the upgrading of a local sport or healthy living facility of the community’s choosing.

The Gold Medal Winner will receive:

 - 1 x $100,000 Cash Reward

- 5 Pairs of tickets (10 tickets total) to the XXIst Olympic Winter Games Events

 

- 5 Pairs of tickets (10 tickets total) to the Xth Paralympic Winter Games Events (events to be determined by the Province in it sole discretion)

-1 x Plaque identifying the community as “Gold Medal Winner, GamesTown 2010”

-1 x Visit from one or more 2010 Olympic and/or Paralympic Athlete(s) (either before or after the close of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and the Contest Period)

Upload stories, photos and YouTube video clips to your own B.C. Community Profile Page on the GamesTown2010 website, show how Williams Lake engages the Olympic spirit and should be named GamesTown2010.

Visit the website, and vote for Williams Lake, in the population category 10,001-to-25,000. There are only 21 communities vying for gold in this category. (Note that you must vote for the other 4 categories as well, for your vote to be submitted.)
