The general population should consider reducing or rescheduling strenuous activities outdoors if you experience symptoms such as coughing and throat irritation.

People with heart and lung conditions are most affected by air pollution. To find out if you are at risk, consult the health guide, or your physician.  Visit the national AQHI website to learn more about the AQHI.    The AQHI is an initiative of Environment Canada, Health Canada, the B.C. Ministry of Environment, the B.C. Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport, the B.C. Ministry of Health Services, the Municipality of Williams Lake and the B.C. Lung Association.

Air pollution can affect your health in different ways, from minor symptoms such as a scratchy throat, to more serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing or heart problems.

The forecast for the Cariboo region is expected to remain 'high risk' for the balance of the week.
