The Gibraltar Room at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex will broadcast full screen coverage of the Olympics throughout the Games. There is no charge for the public to view these events.
The Gibraltar Room will be available for the public to view the Opening Ceremonies on Friday, February 12th at 5:45 pm with coverage beginning at 6:00 pm. Events featured between February 12th and February 28th will include Canadian Men and Women’s Hockey games as well as Bronze and Gold Medal Games. In addition, there will be daily coverage of the games which will vary from day to day. A full broadcast schedule will be posted on the City’s website at www.williamslake.ca as well as the Complex website at www.activewilliamslake.com. The Closing Ceremonies will also be broadcast, Sunday, February 28th at 5:30 pm.
Councillor Surinder Rathor said, "I am thrilled to see the Gibraltar Room used in this capacity. We received funds from the Provincial Government for this Olympic/Paralympic Live Site which allows participants the opportunity to watch from the comfort of the Gibraltar Room bleachers and see images projected onto the giant screen. It is my pleasure to welcome you to this wonderful event and I encourage all individuals to attend."
All residents of the City and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to participate in, and share the excitement of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver from our own facility here in Williams Lake. It is anticipated that families will drop in and out of the Complex throughout the Games to watch their favorite sports and/or highlights.
