Williams Lake had a busy weekend! People enjoyed markets, pottery, BBQ fundraisers, a car wash and a bit of magic.
Shoppers enjoyed the unique, open-air pottery market on Saturday at the Cariboo Arts Centre next to City Hall.
The Cariboo Potters Guild had beautiful displays of hand-crafted pottery by local artists, including table ware, bird feeders, buttons, decor, vases--in a range of texture-rich glazes and colours, shapes and sizes.
The sale also included refreshments by donation.
Sizzling, delicious hot dogs and hamburgers were on the grill at M&M Meats until 4:00 on Saturday, as a fundraiser for the 150 Mile Greenbelt, Trail and Heritage Society.
Costumed Society members served lunch and answered questions about how important the group is in working to preserve the environment, develop hiking trails in the area, and in preserving and protecting heritage sites for the future.
Norden the Magician from Vancouver set up his magic act in the library for an entertaining and energetic show for.
He said that kids were in for some great tricks and a lot of fun. "This is a literacy-based show that lets kids have magical fun related to books," he said.
"Everything you'll see me do I learned from a book. I want kids to go out of here today saying 'Wow!'”
The Williams Lake Pipe Band were at the Oliver Street Market on Saturday selling hand-crafted puzzles made of reclaimed wood as a fundraiser to send band members to the ‘Piping Hot Summer Drummer’ workshop near Vernon this summer.
They are also gearing up for the Williams Lake Stampede Parade.
The beautiful puzzles are exquisitely designed and make a great gift idea.
A Dry Grad car wash and BBQ fundraiser took place at Chaps Auto Body on Mackenzie Avenue.
Residents were invited to stop by and support Dry Grad before 3pm. (Photo: Steven, Bridget, Matthew, Benno, Danielle, and Dylan.)

She had Cariboo scenes painted on giant saw blades, whimsical painted stones and spectacular 'burl baskets' hand-created from local materials.
Fresh herbs, flowers, salad greens, vegetables and fruit celebrated spring at the Cariboo Growers Market on Friday.
There were three colours of bell peppers, cucumbers, onions, salmon, breads, natural yogurt, flour, meats and more--locally grown, sustainable and naturally produced.
