| Events |
Science World BC is returning to Williams Lake to the TRU campus in March and the Community Science Celebration Committee is inviting volunteers from the community to participate in this fun, educational event.
(Visitors of all ages enjoy the Science Fair BC event at TRU, taking the opportunity to experience hands-on science.)
The Community Science Celebration Committee, headed by TRU’s Chemistry Faculty Marten Lettinga, is organizing the event on March 3, 2012. “This is a great opportunity for families and kids to experience Science first-hand, when they might not necessarily have that chance otherwise," he states.
(The Water Wise Salmon display has been one of the many booths at the Science Fair.)
Last year Science World BC put on several stage shows in the TRU gymnasium throughout the day. Visitors of all ages have the opportunity to enjoy hands-on science with local experts in the chemistry, biology and psychology departments, and explore the mysteries of things like camel skulls, veterinarian X-rays, composting, fleas and ticks on the family dog, salmon habitat, human blood types, mind-flexing puzzles, art projects, mineralogy and more.
Another successful Science World event is ‘Big Science for Little Hands’, which is workshops for Kindergarten and Preschool teachers.
The Science World ‘On The Road’ tour will be in local schools duringthe week leading up to the main show at the local TRU University Campus on March 3, giving distant communities and schoolsa chance to quench their knowledge for science.
