The annual Horsefly Salmon River Festival begins this Friday, celebrating the return of a million sockeye salmon to their spawning grounds on the Horselfy River. The festival runs from Friday September 4 to Monday September 6, with activities for all ages.
There will be knowledgeable salmon and river interpreters along the river across from the Horsefly Bridge, a lantern-making workshop on Saturday at the Horsefly Community Hall and a family square dance featuring Pharis and Jason Romero on Saturday evening, with caller Merv Meyers.
The Festival is supported by the Horsefly River Roundtable, made up of Scout Island Nature Centre, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Pacific Salmon Foundation, BC Hydro and Baker Creek Enhancement Society.
