The Ladies and Laddies of the Loon are one of the teams gearing up for the Relay for Life in June. The Ladies have gone camping together for the past 32 years.
We started out with five people, with the group fluctuating between nine and 15 each year. This group was formed in opposition to the men's fishing trip that occurred each year around the first of June. Why should they have all the fun and get away? So we decided to have our time away and be in the beautiful outdoors!
Over the years we have enjoyed each others’ company and our campouts are a time of reflection, relaxation and raucous behavior. We have shared in the sadness of losing two of our flock, and have also shared the joy of having members recover from cancer. Our bond is very deep and will continue for years to come. We know that we can support each other no matter what happens.
Our Laddies represent the men in our lives who have been there for us over the years. Whether it was helping with camping supplies, being there during the illness of our friends, or walking with us during Relay for Life, we have appreciated their support.
We were there at the first Relay and are very proud to take part in this project that is very close to our hearts.
