Horsefly River Salmon Festival 2009, near Williams Lake, BC

Horesfly, BC - The Sockeye Salmon are coming home to spawn.  Celebrate this year's dominant run in Horsefly on September 4, 5 and 6.  Fisheries biologists will talk about the life cycle and importance of salmon to the watershed.  Square dancing with The Haints and Merv Meyer, story-telling and concert with singer-songwriters and Brian Robertson and Gord Carter.  Share in a potluck feast. Free song-writing workshop with Pharis Patenaude Romero Friday and Saturday.  Most Events are free. 

Event times:
Friday September 4 – 6:30 pm Song-writing workshop with Pharis Patenaude Romero Part One. 

Saturday September 5
11:00 Grand opening  at the River Park.
11:00-4:00 pm River activities led by biologists including:  find out what the inside of a salmon looks like, chase  aquatic invertebrates—the food that the future salmon depend on,  walk the river and watch the Salmon building their redds. 
Paint a dream fish to add to our Stream of Dreams        
3:00 pm – Song-writing workshop Part Two
6:00 pm – Potluck Feast
8:00 pm – Family Square Dance with The Haints and caller Merv Meyer.  Beginners to experts – everyone’s welcome $12 per person, $25 per family

Sunday September 6
11:00 – 4:00 River activities led by biologists including:  find out what the inside of a salmon looks like, catch aquatic invertebrates—the food that the future salmon depend on,  walk the river and watch the Salmon building their redds. 
Paint a dream fish to add to our Stream of Dreams

3:00 -- Concert featuring singer and songwriter Brian Robertson—Songs of the West Coast and Gordon Carter a singer-songwriter-storyteller whose music celebrates the places he loves  -- including Horsefly.

This is another great family concert.  $12 per person, $25 per family.
