A group of ‘circus objectors’ gathered at the entrance to Jordan World Circus on Monday to continue public awareness about the treatment of elephants in circuses. This protest began in 2008 when Opal Norberg and Sheila Robichaud stood alone at the entrance of the Stampede Grounds with their signs.

The group grew to 12 people in 2009. “There are many people who are pulling together now and really showing support. We just want people to understand what they are supporting when they go to watch the performance,” Opal stated. “Most people are unaware of the behind-the-scenes in circuses and would not support them if they only knew the truth.”
