The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association (CCCTA) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. This not for profit stakeholder driven association is a Destination Marketing Organization that works in conjunction with Tourism British Columbia and the tourism industry in the Cariboo, Chilcotin and Central Coast areas to help foster the growth of the tourism industry in the region. The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast is one of the six official tourism regions of British Columbia.

The CCCTA is thrilled that its 2012 AGM and Tourism Summit is being jointly hosted by the Gold Rush communities of Wells and Barkerville, while celebrating the 150th Anniversary of both Barkerville and The Gold Rush Trail.  The growth of tourism in this region has been exponential over the past fifty years. The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast is a large region (117,000 square kilometres) of incredible biodiversity and full of history and heritage, aboriginal culture, and is now seen as a premiere outdoor adventure destination in Canada with extraordinary growth potential, with ‘adventure tourism’ being the fastest growing tourism sector in the world. Today, many of the region’s communities and operators  understand this potential and identify tourism as a key economic development driver that promotes sustainable growth.

Many businesses in this region are affected by the tourism industry in some way.  All are encouraged to attend the 2012 Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association Tourism Summit to learn more about fostering and building partnerships with like-minded regional stakeholders.   Amy Thacker, Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association CEO    “I invite everyone to register and attend this informative and interactive event. Our awards dinner and auction will not only celebrate our 50 years of history, but also the future opportunities and potential that are in front of us.”
