This weekend Williams Lake was treated to the third annual Parade of Choirs at the Cariboo Bethel Church. The event was a fundraiser for the Hough Memorial Cancer Society with admission by donation.
The audience thoroughly enjoyed performances by the Cariboo Children’s Choir, Cariboo Men’s Choir, the Cariboo Seniors Carollers, Eclectica and Quintet Plus, with a joint performance at the close of the concert.

Approximately 60 people gathered on Saturday for an anti-HST rally in Herb Gardiner Park. Various speakers addressed the crowd, expressing concerns about the Harmonized Sales Tax, which is scheduled to be imposed this July.
The speakers were Eric Freston, Bill Derbyshire and Steve Laidlaw from the Steelworkers Union, Bill Reid, Dave Ligertwood, Mona Niebergal and Joan McGee. The rally took place across Oliver Street from MLA Donna Barnett’s office.
Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin hosts Birthday Tea
Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin is celebrating the city’s 81st Birthday with a Birthday Tea on Monday, March 15 from 11:00am until 3:00pm.
Everyone is welcome.
Local RCMP and Firefighters battle for cancer on ice
The Battle of the Badges/Dale Moon Classic Charity Hockey Game took place on Saturday, March 6 at the Cariboo Memorial Complex. The annual event is a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. Results and highlights to follow shortly.

The Watoto Choir from Uganda Africa performed to a full house last night at the Cariboo Bethel Church. Approximately 22 young singers, dancers, drummers and storytellers took the stage to celebrate the changes in their lives, and in the lives of thousands of other AIDS orphans.
Spring Break Music Workshop
The best of Nashville, Chicago, & Californias bluegrass musicians & bands will be headlining the large group of instructors for 5 days at The Hills Health Ranch commencing March 24 to 28, 2010.
The best of North American professionals musicians will be teaching up to 14 different intimate classes through the day, and will all be “jamming” and performing concerts each evening giving students and guests at the ranch some of the best of guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandelin, dobro, stand-up bass & vocal music available anywhere.

Hockey fans gathered at the Gibraltar Room
Residents gathered yesterday in the Gibraltar Room to enjoy a state-of-the-art experience during.the Olympic Men's Gold Metal Hockey game. The Gibraltar Room Improvement Project, a provincial initiative, was funded by the Olympic Paralympic Live Site Program.
"We have received numerous positive reviews from Williams Lake residents that took advantage of the opportunity to watch the Olympics in the Gibraltar Room," said Kim Emsley-Leik, Events & Marketing Coordinator for the City of Williams Lake. "At the time the system was put in, the technology was state of the art. It certainly made watching many of the events, including downhill skiing, bob sledding, and of course, the men's Gold Medal hockey game, a memorable experience."

Growers and producers invited information session on AgriStability
Attention Producers
The Business Risk Management Branch of the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands invites growers and producers to an information session on AgriStability.
The Williams Lake information session will be held at the Central Cariboo Forest District Office, at 540 Borland Street (Cariboo Room 2nd floor) on March 2, 2010 from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.

Caribou in the Cariboo
Mountain Caribou numbers have declined substantially since the early 1900's and the population is considered threatened. John YoudsRegional Ecosystem Head Ministry of Environment has worked on caribou conservation for over two decades. He will present current knowledge on Mountain Caribou sub-populations in our region and identify current efforts to help restore these herds.

Scout Island Nature Centre invites kids aged 6-13 to their lively, active Spring Break program March 9-11, 2010.
They will be outdoors as much as possible, exploring and playing games each day from 9:30am until 3:30pm.

Anti-HST rally at Boitanio Mall

Shoppers at Boitanio Mall today had the opportunity to pick up more than great getting-ready-for spring bargains, they could stop and pick up some information about the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) due to be imposed on BC this summer.
