Former Ulkatcho chief Lynda Price is one of five candidates vying for the position of Regional Chief for the BC Assembly of First Nations. The election will take place Oct. 1 during the annual general meeting of the BCAFN at the Chief Joe Mathias Recreation Centre in North Vancouver.
The regional chief's seat has been vacant since Shawn a-in-chut Atleo ran successfully for the position of national chief of the Assembly of First Nations this past July.
Price is up against some stiff opposition for this high profile position. Others in the running are Shane Gottfriedson Chief of Tke'mlups/Kamloops Indian Band; Stewart Phillip Grand Chief of the Penticton Indian Band, and President of the Union of BC Inidan Chiefs; Robert Shintah, Political Chief of Ts'kw'aylaxw Indian Band, and vice president of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs for three terms; and Jody Wilson-Raybould, a lawyer and member of the We Wai Kai First Nation on Quadra Island.
