Evacuation Alert issued for Bayliff Road area near Alexis Creek

Based on recommendations from the Cariboo Fire Centre, the Cariboo Regional District issued an evacuation alert for residents living on Bayliff Road near Alexis Creek early this morning.
The affected area follows Bayliff Road from just east of Alexis Creek Nazko Road to just west of Young Road. Approximately 8 homes are within the alert area.
Upon notification of an evacuation alert, residents should be prepared for the possibility of an evacuation order by following some of these preparedness tips:
· Locate all family members or co-workers and arrange a place to meet outside the evacuation area.
· Gather essential items such as medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (i.e. insurance), immediate care needs for dependants and, if you choose, keepsakes (photographs, etc), and have these items available for quick departure.
· Be ready to evacuate any family members with special needs or children.
· Make arrangements or move pets and livestock to a safe area.
· Make transportation arrangements for household members in the event of an Order. If you need transportation assistance from the area please call the CRD’s Emergency Operations Centre at 250-392-4283.
· Arrange accommodations for your family if possible. In the event of an evacuation, Emergency Social Services (ESS) Reception Centres will be opened if required.
· Listen to local news sources for information on evacuation orders and locations of ESS Reception Centres.
